We, the undersigned, call on the Faculty Executive to stop its current plans to close the Gateway House staff common room (GH5.30) and keep this facility open.
We believe appropriately sized and furnished staff common rooms are an important, necessary and beneficial resource in every campus building. The University implicitly recognised this from the early design stages of the newly built Hugh Aston building, and provided staff located in this building with a 'state-of-the-art' staff common room facility. We would like to point out this example of good practice to the Faculty executive, and deplore the lack of consultation and transparency prior to reaching their decision to close GH5.30.
