Dear Public Officials:
Please do not eliminate the five transit stops on Geary and OвFarrell Streets! They are all actively used and serve the residents and businesses of this very densely populated neighborhood with steep access routes to Geary and a very high number of people with limited mobility.
Connections to the #19 and #27 lines will be lost, making it yet harder for residents in the Tenderloin, South of Market, Mission, and Bayview-Hunters Point to access the medical services, family connections, and businesses in the Geary corridor.
Please re-consider whether the elimination of two outbound stops on Geary will really improve speed or reliability on the #38 line. The #38L is there for speed. And it is the other improvements in the Geary Corridor plan that will make the difference in reliability.
Eliminating three inbound stops on OвFarrellвnear the end of the routeвwill do nothing to improve the reliability of that line.
Tenderloinвs 30,000 residents once again are seeing our neighborhood treated as вa place that people go throughввnot a real neighborhood with real people and real needs. Citizens who attended MUNIвs April 14 meeting on Turk Street overwhelmingly opposed these changes. Please preserve the Tenderloin as the model Transit First neighborhood.
Thank you for your consideration.
