Dear Mr O'Rourke,
We, the undersigned, wish to complain in the strongest possible terms about our treatment at the hands of your organizations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai during your recent business restructuring in the region.
We are shocked at the disgraceful and disrespectful manner with which the redundancies your company has made have been handled and the total lack of consideration shown to us and our families during the process.
Many of us gave up good jobs in the UK to join your organisation and made a commitment to you that would have lasted many years. In repayment for our hard work and dedication we have simply been cast aside, with absolutely no regard for our well being, as if we are something stuck to the sole of your shoe.
The handling of the redundancy process has been a shambles from the start, your HR team have been ill equipped and ill prepared to deal with the numbers involved and we have consequently been treated like pieces of meat.
There has been a complete lack of goodwill displayed by the company and no compensation or ex-gratia payments offered, despite many of us being homeless and our children having to be removed from school in the middle of a school year, in many cases without the possibility of being placed elsewhere.
Many of us also face the burden of tax repayment due to the inconsiderate timing of your redundancies and lack of flexibility with regard to notice periods.
Your senior management staff continue to preach about their supposed openness of communications, yet many of us first heard about the extent of the redundancies in the local press!
We are unsure as to whether you are aware of our plight over here, but the good name of your organization has been well and truly tarnished in the minds of many hundreds of people, many of whom will need years to recover from this despicable and traumatic episode.
For a company with the reputation of one that looks after its employees you should be totally ashamed.
Good luck with your recruitment drives in the future, you have a far smaller pool of people from which to select.
