This petition supports making necessary airport improvements, while at the same time, not having the unintended consequences of allowing more room for additional flights.
Whereas, the current airport settlement agreement allows for a minimum of 41 daily jets as ordered by a Federal Court. (Alaska Airlines Vs. City of Long Beach)
Whereas, the airport flight paths impact thousands of homes and schools.
Whereas, there is a mere $300 fine for curfew violations.
Whereas, The FAA has placed Long Beach on a list of 15 airports nationwide that may need EXPANSION by 2013 and 2020.
Whereas, SCAG Chairman Mark Pisano has stated that "If Palmdale and Ontario don't pan out due to El Toro being off the list, then there will be increased pressure on Long Beach to expand".
Whereas, tripling the current size of the passenger holding areas as currently proposed is obviously risky, and only invites the camel to come even further into the tent.
Whereas, we do however support improvements in areas such as, security offices, TSA facilities, restroom capacity, and employee workspace.
Therefore let it be resolved, that we hereby call upon the Airport Advisory Commission and the City of Long Beach to propose and vote for an airport improvement alternative that addresses all of these concerns.

No to Expansion/cut half their flights/change flight path to where it was yrs ago. They never flew over HH. They came in over Naval Weapons area, Bolsa Chica&405. Make them move it back!!
