Madden 2005 PC Roster Editor

PC gamers are amongst some of the most dedicated to your Madden NFL gaming series, and as of recent years, have been subjected to various degrees of neglect compared to the console versions.

Despite taking an extra month for its release, Madden 2005 PC has had features taken out of the game (no positions changes during franchise, no custom team franchise support, no team captains to name a few) and seemingly no new features added over the 2005 Console versions that weren't already in 2004 PC. On top of this, our first roster update came today, October the 8th, and is dated the 22nd of September, whilst consoles gamers enjoy 3 roster updates already since their release. This one and only update is close to a month after its release, and it isn't even up to date.

Roster editors in the Madden PC community try hard to produce quality rosters to fill in the gap EA leaves for PC gamers, but the lack of support from EA prevents them from producing any serious attempts. Custom rosters can't feature injuries, contract adjustments, custom photos, and other changes to player information when done inside the game. These are important to produce accurate rosters - the Dolphins didn't trade for Booker because they felt like it, David Boston needed replacing due to a season ending injury, but with custom rosters, they have an unrealistic Pro Bowl caliber receiving corps from 1st to slot receiver. The new official roster addresses this particular case, but it took close to a month and it is something we aren't looking forward to dealing with in the future again, whether it is for 2005, or 2006, or beyond.

On behalf of the PC roster editors and PC gamers out there, we request that EASports consider this petition as our desire to see a freeware PC roster editing utility that will allow us to update the rosters to their full extent, including but not limited to injuries, contracts, photos etc. With the amount of dedication out there in the community, this has no apparent negative impacts - we get our own complete custom rosters thanks to the dedicated editors out there, and EASports can relax on the PC updates knowing gamers can help themselves if they wish.

With a powerful roster utility, the PC version can finally get the justice it deserves - when your competing product on the Xbox, SEGA's ESPN NFL 2K5, has its own PC roster editing application, you know something has got to be wrong when even the PC version itself of Madden NFL doesn't. It is time us PC gamers are given something to reward our dedication to this series, something that gives the PC version some distinction, and a roster utility will do that.
