Maintaining the Integrity and Traditions of the Academy Awards

Dear Mr. Cates:

This is a plea to not alter the way Oscars are given out at this year's Academy Awards. The idea of having nominees separated into three categories (one category standing on stage while the winner is announced, one category of winners not even getting to make a speech and having their Oscar presented to them while seated, and one category accepting their award the traditional way)is against everything the Academy Awards stand for. We love to watch each and every winner celebrate their moment of glory by walking to the stage, giving their speech, and getting played off by the orchestra.

We do not approve of this "American-Idol"esque way of having nominees stand on stage to await which one of their names is announced, nor do we approve of certain winners not getting to give a speech at all. Let us not succumb to sensationalism and expediency when honoring the best in film. Leave it the way it was - and the way it has always been.
