Medicaid for New Hampshire

We, the undersigned, petition the Legislature on two counts:
1. To include the voice of citizens of New Hampshire in weighing the impact of the proposed Medicaid changes before any deals happen between the state and federal government.
2. To adequately fund Medicaid so that those citizens who are now receiving services and those who need them will be able to get the services they need
Citizens rely on Medicaid services to:
-Reach their full potential
-Be productive members of society
-Maintain good health and safety
-Participate in valued roles in the community
-Live independently in their own homes
-Obtain and maintain employment
-Be active members of their communities
Services that citizens rely on through Medicaid are continuing to be under attack. Medicaid is a good insurance and often the only that many are eligible for. We are concerned that in past years Medicaid dollars have been used for the states general fund and now that those dollars are gone, the citizens who need Medicaid the most are being asked to pay the price.
It is morally and ethically correct for Medicaid dollars to be used only for Medicaid services. We petition the Legislature to stop radical changes proposed by Governor Benson and Commissioner Stephen, such as GraniteCare or other proposals, until citizens of New Hampshire have a chance to examine the proposals carefully, weigh the impact of these proposals on peoples lives, and provide feedback to the Legislature.
