Midnight attack on democracy in India

We, the expatriate Indians, request your immediate attention and action against the present political leaders of the Government of India, which ruthlessly used armed violence against the peaceful satyagrahis at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. It is the saddest day for the democracy in India when in the middle of the night, the security forces brutally attacked the sleeping men, women and children in the Ramlila ground. The atrocities suffered by over one lakh people were inhuman and barbaric. The police crackdown was reminiscent of the Emergency days.
Under the leadership of social activist Baba Ramdev, the satyagrahis from all walks of life and all states of India were speaking out against the rampant corruption and black money that has plagued the country for so long and were demanding actions from the government against the perpetrators in a truly Gandhian way.
Instead of acting against corruption, the Govt of India preferred the use of barbaric and deplorable force in the middle of the night against the peaceful protesters. The democratic rights of the sons and daughters of Mother India must be protected against the excesses of government abuse.
The expatriate community still maintains strong emotional, economic and familial ties with the land and remains concerned regarding the negative impact of such events.
This is a decisive moment for democracy in India. Your Excellency, the President of India, we demand an immediate dismissal of the Government and punitive action against the guilty. This will demonstrate to the world IndiaХs resolve and faith in democracy.
