motorveilige vangrails

Vangrails, of beter gezegd geleiderails, zijn ontworpen om auto's die van de weg raken te 'geleiden'. Op motorrijders hebben dergelijke vangrails echter een heel ander effect. In veel gevallen zal een motorrijder bij een ongeval van zijn motor vallen en een aantal meters doorschuiven. Dit kan de nodige kleerscheuren opleveren, maar hoeft niet tot ernstig letsel te leiden. Anders wordt het als de motorrijder tijdens de schuiver in aanraking komt met de paaltjes waarop de vangrail is bevestigd. Er zijn helaas te veel voorbeelden bekend van motorrijders die door deze paaltjes zwaar letsel hebben opgelopen of zelfs om het leven zijn gekomen. Europees gezien zijn geleiderails de oorzaak van 10 tot 15\% van de dodelijke ongevallen onder motorrijders.

Daarom vraag ik u deze petitie te tekenen voor de plaatsing van motorveilige vangrails in heel Nederland. Hiermee bedoel ik niet maar 5 meter in een bocht, maar dat de vangrails in Nederland allemaal, maar dan ook echt allemaal motorveilig worden.
