Mtv-- Music Taken Violently... from us

I personally find putting a lot of alternative bands on iTunes just because they're on MTV, offensive. A lot of bands have been ruined because they're on MTV, then get put on itunes, i'm also not the only one who feels this way. Panic! At The Disco have been officially ruined because they were on MTV, then itunes put them on here. If people were true fans of the alternative bands, then they would go out and buy the cd, rather than just the song that the saw on MTV. I personally feel offended because now a bunch of cheerleaders and preps go around saying they love Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy and Taking Back Sunday just because they heard the singles on MTV. It is very depressing because now bands are selling out because a bigger fanbase likes them, but over half of that fan base only likes them because of the singles they here on MTV. These bands can make it on their own without the help of MTV and iTunes. Hawthorne Heights isn't on iTunes, and you very rarely here it on MTV, and they still have their original fanbase and are doing just fine. Alternative bands have their own following of people who here them over the internet through different connections. Rap stars and Pop singers need this kind of publicity on MTV and iTunes because their following of people just like whats on MTV. They just like whatevers cool and think whatevers cool is on MTV. They say they love whatever band they just heard on MTV, P!ATD, Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is..., even though they've only heard one song. I'm not going to go around town saying I love The Pussycat Dolls because I've heard Buttons, because I don't like them. Bands that have that kind of following need publicity on MTV and iTunes, so that they have a fanbase, they need the kind of publicity other Alternative bands are getting, that don't need it. Magazines and iTunes isn't the only place I've heard of the Pink Spiders. So I wish you would stay away from these Alternative bands, and pass this along to MTV.

This petition was designed to take bands and music videos of the Alternative/ Emo/ Indie genres. Bands such as Plain White T's, Gym Class Heroes, Fall Out Boy, Cute Is What We Aim For, Say Anything, Panic! At The Disco, and Paramore fit this sub-genre and we are sick of seeing them on tv.

I am sorry but all mtv does is ruin music.
I feel bad for bands (fall out boy included) that end up on mtv.
they never play any old stuff either. its all new.

I can't even watch the hills or real world, becuase i realized now, that all it is, is worthless junk put on TV to brainwash preteens into turning into laguna beach clones

like, most people that will actually go out and buy the CD and maybe go to a few concerts of theirs [like us] don't like the whole idea of a band being mainstream.
INSTEAD, they get the fans that illegally download music off of limewire or something, and that never plan on buying the CD, they just care about how cute they looked in their video.
when a video for a band is played on mtv or whatever... it becomes mainstreams and all the potential ACTUAL fans will just pass right by them.
and mtv favors rap, and that "discover and download" thing isn't helping bands, either. it's just giving people free music...

MTV is a music television channel owned by Viacom. MTV is extremely influential in teenagers lives. In teenagers, between the age of 12 and 19, 73\% of boys and 78\% of girls watch MTV. They watch on average 6.6 and 6.2 hours a week respectively.
Though MTV is so influential they have little respect for the morals and minds of the people watching. The Parents Television Council did a study of MTVs spring break programs in march of 2004. In 171 hours of programing they found; 1,548 sexual scenes, 3,056 depictions of sex or nudity, and 2,881 verbal sex references. In another study the parents television council found 938 partially bleeped(but still discernable) swear words and 542 Non-bleeped swear words in 71 hours of television.
MTV is making $6.84 billion a year on our generation. If we wish for our generation to stop being influenced by the vulgarity of MTV then we need to take a stand.
