To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled (incl. the Hon. Brad Hazzard MP), we the undersigned object to the current proposed plans for the North Ryde Station Precinct Project and hereby request the following:
This is a petition of concerned citizens of Australia living in New South Wales brings to the attention of the House the current proposal for the North Ryde Station Precinct Project. We oppose the current proposed density and scale of the dwellings, the impact to traffic from the current road design, impact to Truscott Street Public School and the lack of respect for existing dwellings adjacent to the new sites.
The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to implement independent review(s) to:
1. Ensure this project is not solely focused on financial gain. It should include goals such as amenity to the current and future community.
2. Align the proposed density to be more respectful of the existing community, with particular consideration given to:
a) Epping Road should act as a barrier between the local low density existing residential housing and the high-rise/ medium density housing proposed. This applies to all sites, but in particular the Office of Strategic Lands site which is situated next to existing low density dwellings. We request that this site be zoned as low density (or better still kept as recreational facilities for existing and new communities).
b) Density for the Northern side of Epping Road should also remain respectful of the existing affected communities and dwellings of North Ryde (with consideration given to existing successful Australian examples of TOD (Transport Orientated Development), including Subiaco, Kogarah Town Centre, Fitzgibbon Urban Development and Kelvin Grove which are based on medium density).
4. Assess the impact to local schools (from new resident demand).
5. Assess future traffic demand based on the current existing plans, being mindful of the impact to (and safety of) the existing community.
Outputs of this review should be shared with the community and incorporated into updated plans for this project.
