Operation: Saving Endangered Animals

Illegal hunting and habitat loss are the greatest factors in this tragedy. As of 2006, there were less than a few thousand tigers world-wide, when there were 100,000 probably to begin with. Many Western countries are not properly protecting tigers, causing them to constantly be killed by poaching groups.
There are only 6,500 Sumatran orangutans left, and the numbers are steadily decreasing. Deforestation for palm oil, which is used in microwavable popcorn and many cookie products, is one of the larger factors contributing to their endangerment.
Gorilla's population is increasing slowly, the western lowland gorillas now have a count of 125,000 as of Aug. 2008. But, by tightening the rope on poaching and habitat loss, the count can increase at a faster rate.
