PAROLE NOW MOVEMENT

We, the signers of this petition, join with ParacleteFoundation.org, Inc., in a call for PRISON REFORM now. We are convinced that re-instating the Federal Parole program will ease the population crunch on prisons; will save billions of dollars in tax dollars; will ease the burden on families, especially the children of incarcerated parents who suffer financial hardship and emotional distress.









The immediate closing of the BOP FPC facilities and sending inmates now in these camps back to their communities where they can work, earn, study, and care for their families and not be warehoused as they are today. There is ample evidence that recidivism will not be affected adversely, Public safety can be maintained at the same or even a higher.









Money saved through parole can be used to enhance educational programs at the Junior High and High School levels that will target at risk young men and women to reduce criminal activity. Technology and apprentice programs can ge initiated to give meaningful employment and activity to those who are not in school and who lack jobs that are not available in the present job market.









We firmly believe that there is a misconception that the harsh sentencing policy being practiced today is NOT WORKING to reduce crime. The many petty offenders who serve long prison terms without the possibility of parole drags down our economy and the moral underpinning of our society.









We urge IMMEDIATE ACTION TO RE-INSTATE THE FEDERAL PAROLE PROGRAM and stand ready to do whatever is necessary to affect these changes. The recognition of good conduct, participation in prison educational and self-improvement programs and the lack of disciplinary problems with half of the sentence served, should be considered in the change back to parole.
