We, the undersigned, are requesting that our Governor and State Legislators work toward a plan for a commuter rail line to link the Valley of the Sun and Tucson. According to Bruce Babbitt, Arizona is now the fastest growing state in the country and will increase to 14 million residents by 2040. More than 90 percent of these new residents will be living and working along the corridor from Phoenix through Pinal County to Tucson. We must plan now for commuter rail service. Fortunately, the tracks are already in place.
The time is now for the governor and Legislature to secure the necessary rights for passenger service along this line. Thank you.
