On behalf of RecycleFirstState.org, an environmental advocacy group, and Delaware's environmental and business communities, we, the undersigned, encourage legislators in the Delaware General Assembly to support changes to Sen. McBride's proposed Senate Bill 234 that would...

1) Support Source-Separated Multi-Stream Recycling, rather than replace it with Single-Stream Recycling, since Multi-Stream Recycling generates more recyclable materials;

2) Do NOT create an across-the-board SALES TAX on Delawareans' purchase of Beverage Containers to replace the 1982 Bottle Bill law Deposit-and-Redemption User-Paid system; and

3) Continue the 1982 Bottle Bill User-Paid Deposit-and-Redemption System, and use the proceeds of those Unredeemed Deposits as escheated "unclaimed assets" returned via the General Fund to pay for Multi-Stream Recycling costs and education.
