We the undersigned believe the comments you made on Monday the 16th of January were inappropriate. Along with the comment you stated during a meeting, How do I make sure that New Orleans is not overrun by Mexican Workers? These two comments were inappropriate and racist. Had the comments been made by an Anglo or Hispanic mayor in the same context they would have resigned or would have been removed from office for their comments. However, because of a double-standard of racism in this country you have not been reprimanded.
With this petition we the undersigned call for your resignation to ensure the double-standard of racism will not continue. Along with equality and justice for all will prevail.
