On April 20th, 2010, an BP owned oil rig suffered an explosion that culminating in the loss of life and the beginning what is becoming the largest environmental catastrophe in the history of the United States. Since that time, BP's response to the disaster, under the leadership of Chief Executive Tony Hayward, has been lackluster with experts on all sides agreeing that more could be done to address the spill.
Mr. Hayward has repeatedly made statements that indicate his disregard for the severity of the problem and BP, under his leadership, has been caught in numerous lies, half-truths, and misrepresentations about how severe the spill is and what BP is doing to address it.
We, the undersigned believe it is time for Tony Hayward to be removed as Chief Executive of BP and respectfully request that the shareholders and Board of Directors of BP do so immediately.
