WHEREAS tuition fee hikes in Ontario have created barriers to access to post-secondary education in the province,
And WHEREAS the World Economic Forum has consistently ranked access to post-secondary education among the most important factors contributing to a healthy and competitive economy,
And WHEREAS tuition fee hikes cause students to undertake increasingly unmanageable debt loads that will have a lasting negative impact on their social and economic futures,
WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
That the Legislative Assembly of Ontario enact legislation re-instating a post-secondary tuition fee freeze in Ontario Colleges and Universities and ensure that students play a central role in shaping future tuition fee policies.
