Watauga High School administrators support the free-speech rights of those promoting the Homosexual Day of Silence, and Watauga High is even listed on the official "Day of Silence" website (incorrectly listed under New Hampshire). See: http://www.dayofsilence.org/about/participants.php
The Homosexual Day of Silence website explains, "The Day of Silence, a project of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in collaboration with the United States Student Association (USSA), is a student-led day of action where those who support making anti-LGBT bias unacceptable in schools take a day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT students and their allies."
However, on this particular day, the only person being silenced was a 17-year-old Christian. Mark was given the option of either removing the t-shirt or being suspended. Mark stood up for his beliefs.
We the undersigned demand that Mark Austin's record of suspension be expunged and receive a formal apology from the administration of Watauga High School.
