For the last 14 years, the NHL (National Hockey League) has been on a steady decline. 99.9\% of the reason being the Commissioner during that time, Gary Bettman. As Comissioner, Gary Bettman has served the National Hockey League since February 1, 1993. Mr.Bettman was hired as the first NHL commissioner (the position was formerly styled as president) to try to give the NHL some of the same success that the NBA was enjoying in the United States. His mandate was to make hockey appeal further to many American audiences unfamiliar with the game, and who are traditionally more interested in professional baseball, football and basketball. Obviously,in this he has failed.
This petition is for the removal of Gary Bettman and for the hiring of a replacement who has a better understanding of the game, its fan base and marketability. Bettman has proved on numerous occasions that is unable to understand the needs of the league, how to properly promote the game, and how to effectively execute changes for the betterment and integrity of the sport.
