Dear Mr. Ted Rogers,
We are writing this letter to urge you to stop carrying the nine Chinese channels which are bundled as "The Great Wall Package", officially launched by Rogers Cable in April 2007.
Controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, these channels have a blatant history of inciting abusive comments against targeted groups such as Falun Gong, Tibetan and human rights activists. All these nine TV channels are part of CRFTG (China Radio Film and Television Group), which describes itself as: "an important mouthpiece of the CCP Central Committee, an important cultural battle field for the CCP and our country."
Recent evidence taped in March on Rogers digital channel 596 shows that one of these channels, CCTV4, has used abusive language again in its programs against the Tibetans and Dalai Lama who were described as liars and terrorists. For more details, pls see the video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWLkN6trkpo
Contents of the programs carried on these TV channels violate the Broadcasting Act which mandates that programming should be of a high standard, balanced, and should reflect the multicultural and multiracial nature of Canadian society.
Carrying these obviously biased and demagogic TV channels has drawn into question the credibility of Rogers as unbiased, reliable information providers.
Therefore, we urgently call for Rogers to stop carrying these nine TV channels and protect Canadians from being harmed by abusive content. Meanwhile, we reserve our right to call on Rogers customers to unsubscribe from Rogers services.
