Following the retirement of the School Crossing Patroller sited on the Dunkeld Road outside St Ninian's Primary School, Perth and Kinross Council have taken the decision not to recruit a replacement. The Dunkeld Road is one of the busiest arterial roads in Perth carrying cars, buses, articulated lorries, caravans, emergency vehicles and even farm vehicles. In addition there is a busy petrol station with two entrances/exits straddling the site, plus a major junction with traffic lights nearby. There is documented evidence of poor driver behaviour at this site and the crossing is often obstructed by queuing vehicles which poses another danger to children crossing the road.
We, the undersigned, support the Parents of St Ninian’s Primary School in asking Perth and Kinross Council to replace the School Crossing Patroller on the Dunkeld Road.
