Return Dr. Tony Atwater to NSU President

Reinstate Tony Atwater as President of the Norfolk State University 

Tony Atwater, a president during our era of the Wave of excellence of the NSU Body; and the sixth president in the  history of the institution, was abruptly fired recently by the Rector and Board of Visitors after only few years of service despite a plethora of positive reviews and support from students, faculty, staff, alumni, state and local officials.

Dr. Atwater is a highly respected educator of national stature and brought major partnerships to this institution. As reasons for his termination, a statement from the Rector and Board faults Atwater’s administration for a culture of issues that he inherited that was being corrected. The claims that NSU needs a leader more adaptable person to “the realities of the external environment.” These arguments do not justify depriving this University a leader that thought of the University in short and long term goals. The university body of NSU needs a superior leader like Tony Atwater. He brings new blood and appointing the the same individuals will not progress the potential of NSU... he must be reinstated immediately.
