We, the undersigned, regularly rent video cassettes or DVDs from ourlocal video rental outlet and wish to continue doing so. It has come toour attention that Warner Home Video (UK) Limited and Fox Pathe HomeEntertainment Ltd have imposed trading terms on UK Video Rental Dealerswhich are designed to make video rental financially inviable and toconstructively cause the majority of said video rental outlets toclose. It has further come to our attention that these companies havethe intention to replace video rental with their own internet basedVideo On Demand services as a forced alternative to video rental. We(the undersigned) would respectfully ask that the Department ofCulture, Media and Sport instigate an investigation into the actions ofthe afore-mentioned companies,as we believe that by effectively denyingthe British Public the right to rent video films, they will impact onthe cultural well-being of the public and as many video rental outletsserve smaller communities, this will further erode public services inthose communities.
