I believe that the lead in solders removal as legislated under the RoHS EU directive is environmentally damaging, and that the exemption applied for by RoHSUSA On 20 May 2006 by John Burke, CEO RoHSUSA Inc, Santa Clara California for an Exemption application under ENV:Directive 2002/95 EC Article 5(1)(b) for lead in solders for all classes of solders in electronics which can be found at http://rohsusa.com/page20.html should be granted by the EU immediately to prevent the environmental damage which this legislation will cause should it be left in place.

243. Dave M | High reliability aircraft applications are in serious trouble if Pb free continues toward 100\% support from part and solder manufacturers. Tin whiskers can kill.

240. Joe S | The data behind this just does not support removal of Pb from solders. It will be worse for the environment, while reliability becomes very questionable (at best) if not considerably worse
239. Jim L | It may be too late to stop the European Union RoHS laws from being implemented, but not too late for the rest of the world. Why do we have to follow like a herd of sheep?
238. Tim L | reliability is also a large concern

233. Pete S | I'm all for getting lead out of paint and gasoline... as for Pb in solder - one shouldn't eat or burn their old cellphone, but recycle it instead! EE covered by RoHS is also covered by WEEE, so won't end up in a landfill anyway!

229. Graeme D | Great intentions but poor implementation and timing (and where was "due diligence"). I have great concerns with the possible reliability issues.

227. Mike C | Major useage of tin/lead solder is 60\% tin and 40\% lead. After fusing to any compatible metal, the whole mass exists as an ALLOY! What study can say there is lead from solder that can even significantly (in parts per million) leach into the water system
