I. Exclusion from the Passenger Services Act & Jones Act
We wish to allow the S/S Norway to sail between any & all U.S. ports transporting both passengers & goods, regardless of her flag of registry, as best fit for the ships ability to earn income for preservation without need for currently required calls to non-U.S. ports as mandated by the Passenger Services & Jones Acts.
II. Exclusion from SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Compliance after 2000
We desire all ports of the United States of America grant amnesty to the steamship Norway from SOLAS compliance later than the year 2000 in order to best preserve the ships condition and eliminate the risk of decommission due to costs necessary to meet future SOLAS compliance (Please note the precedent of an operational waiver for the historic Delta Queen paddle steamer).
We implore you to take these small, priceless measures to preserve one of the last great vessels from a unique period in American and World History an era of immigration and expansion that shaped the face of the nation and the world today known as the Golden Age of the Ocean Liner. Please help save the Norway (former S/S France, 1960).
The friends and members of the S/S Norway Preservation Foundation thank you.
