Since 1977, SAGA have released 15 studio albums, collected gold and platinum awards around the world and at home, written and recorded many international top ten songs, including: "The Flyer, "Wind Him Up" and On the Loose, and performed music for a major US television series entitled "Cobra" - a Stephen J. Cannell production. SAGA is also extremely active in the live concert market regularly taking their Canadian talents to more than 20 countries worldwide each year.
SAGA were the first rock band to release a digital live recording on CD, and their music has been celebrated with the inclusion of their hit song On the Loose, on the first Canadian Oh What A Feeling music collection. The band has also helped to raise the profile of many Canadian artists, including, a young Bryan Adams and Honeymoon Suite.
In addition to the numerous music sales awards, in 1982, SAGA was the recipient of the prestigious German Gold Ticket Award for being the top selling concert act, and in 1997, the Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier of Ontario recognized the efforts of this dedicated and hardworking group of individuals on their 20th Anniversary.
They remain at the forefront of the music technology revolution as demonstrated by their partnership with KORG keyboards and their web-site: www.SAGA-WORLD.com, and are leaders in developing innovative ways to communicate and interact with their fans. SAGA produced The Saga Softworks an interactive multimedia CD-ROM career anthology, and in 1997, they hosted a group of fans from five different countries who traveled on the road with the band and crew.
Plans for 2003 include an extensive international tour in support their new CD Marathon, and the release of a retrospective DVD called Silhouette. Later in the year, fans will be able to view the bands first convert DVD filmed at the groups 25th Anniversary show in Germany.
Admired by professional musicians and fans worldwide, I believe these talented performers deserve to be honored for their distinguished career in music, and for their outstanding Canadian representation.
