To: Governor of Hawai`i

Dear Governor Lingle,

I wanted to urge you to sign House Bill 1665, thus preventing the future sale of government-owned fishponds.

As of today there are few ancient, traditional fish ponds still in existence in our islands. Because of this we must preserve Kalauha`iha`i Fishpond in Niu Valley and simliar sites to facilitate cultural learning for the benefit of the Native Hawaiian people and the broader community.

The Kalauha`iha`i Fishpond is now planned for auction by the DOT, so again I ask you to sign this legislation to prevent the auctioning off of Hawai`i's cultural heritage.
