We the people of this Galveston Community have, but will not continue, to endure a school district that is consistently mismanaged. We have a crisis of leadership in the area of Administration.
As a Community we have spoken out on deaf ears against the Re-configuration of our Neighborhood Schools forced by the current Administration. We want neighborhood schools!
We do not want a central campus for fifth and sixth grade children!
We do not want a central campus for seventh and eighth grade children!
As a Community we demand control of our schools back in the hands of the families and teachers that support them!

Individuals seeking to improve their schools by participation or registering their concerns are consistently ignored or intimidated.

Many teachers exit based, quite often, on oppressive administrators and their chosen few, who operate under a cloak of secrecy with little or no accountability.

Multiple families in this community are choosing to send their children outside of this district. Even more frustrating is that a large portion of our property taxes remain at schools that are failing our children and our community.

It is the purpose of this petition to seek improvement through accountability.

We demand the administration to look at the past failures of Galveston's centralized Junior High campus configuration and not to CORRAL our children in to classrooms with an extreme number of students.
We ask that the GISD School Board listen to the facts and numbers presented by the Demographers they hired which clearly stated that they are closing schools in the very area that most of our student population reside.
We ask that an exit survey be performed by a community volunteer group appointed by the School Board on families and teachers who leave our District.
We ask that the findings of the Exit Committee be presented at the School Board Meetings as an Agenda Item.
We ask that an anonymous teacher survey be conducted by an outside, professional firm hired by the School Board approved by a local Parents Group that presents how our educators feel about our District and the proposed Re-Configuration.
We demand that this Reconfiguration stop until facts, not possibilites or experimentation, clearly state opposite what the community and your demographers are saying.

We do not want to dispose of neighborhood schools and create centralized campus configuration! We do not want a single more Galveston Family leaving because of the current proposed Re-Configuration.

Please protect the futures of our children and our Community!
