I pledge my support to the tradition of Performers in Covent Garden Market, London, whose livelihoods are currently under threat.
In a move to significantly reduce street performance in Covent Garden Market, the owners (Liberty International/Covent Garden London) have announced that they will cut performance by 50\% as of April 2008.
If this reduction in schedule goes ahead, performers will no longer be able to sustain a living from this form of street entertainment. As a result, the only dedicated under cover free theatre in the world could be no more. This will end a wonderful and unique tradition of 25 years, that has long been a reason for people to visit the area.
