This cancelation of one of Cartoon Network's most beloved shows is a crime so diabolical and evil that even Mojo Jojo himself would not have the heart to commit it. Imagine the devastated looks on all of the faces of the children, teens, and even adults who've been fans, and are still becoming fans, of the show? I can assure you now, removing the show from its original slot at 2:30 weekdays was a huge mistake, and I have several logical reasons as to why.
First of all, taking away the Powerpuff Girls' time spot to make room for a new show (first SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron, then Ozzy and Drix) was unreasonable. There are plenty of shows on Cartoon Network, (such as the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy) that are already on more than once a day, and could easily spare one of their extra slots to make room for an incoming show, rather than removing a once-a-day show entirely. Second of all, it is very unbeneficial to the economy of the Cartoon Network channel to cancel a show with so much marketing behind it. Even 8 years after its premiere in 1998, I can't walk in one store without seeing at least a coloring book, a balloon, a greeting card, or some other such product pertaining to Powerpuff Girls. Now I'm fully aware that merchandise for a number of the newer shows is sold online, but I can guarantee you right now that because Cartoon Network's dominant audience is children, all of whom own no credit card and many of whom probably don't know much about operating the internet, merchandise sales are going to rely much more on the "Please mommy please can I have it!!!" factor that occurs in trips to the local store than online purchases. Third of all, the Powerpuff Girls was no doubt one of Cartoon Network's greatest and most well-known shows of all time. It appeals to the most wide variety of audiences in TV history: little girls are attracted to the cuteness and the superheroine role models that the girls provide, little boys (and boys of any age for that matter) are entertained by the exciting action, and people of all ages and varieties enjoy the laughs given by the original and irresistable humor, ranging in everything from extremely clever puns to elaborate pop culture references. It was one of the most popular shows ever aired on the channel, and it's easy to see why. New fans of the show could arrive anytime. Hey, I just became a fan of this show 2 months ago! It will be an undeniably good choice to bring back the Powerpuff Girls. I don't even care what time of day you air the show, just as long as it has its own 30-minute time slot every weekday like it should, and us devoted fans will never run out of chances to enjoy the antics of these three super-powered little girls, their hilarious evil foes, and all the other great people of Townsville.
This, fair readers, is why you must sign this petition to save The Powerpuff Girls, by persuading Cartoon Network to give them their own 30-minute weekday time slot again! Do it for the children, the fans, the station, the characters, or simply for the sake of knowing you've put a smile on the face of cartoon lovers around the globe. The Powerpuff Girls have saved the day a countless number of times, now it is time for us to save their day!
