In October of 1996, Daniel "Rudy" Engler created ReitzFootball.com as a means to foster support and tradition for Reitz High School, its students and its alumni. In this spirit of community and student support, Rudy's website has continued to provide support of Reitz High School athletics in coordination with both school administrators and teachers, and with independent booster clubs of Reitz High School.
The website's aim of supporting Reitz High School has been a success. Hundreds upon hundreds of alumni and supporters of Reitz High School have used the website as a means of keeping engaged about ways to support the school and its athletic program. In short, ReitzFootball.com fosters the type of involvement, school spirit and community-oriented activity that the EVSC should seek to promote, not discourage.
Unfortunately the EVSC came to a different conclusion and sent Rudy a cease and desist letter. The letter alleges ReitzFootball.com violates federal law by claiming to be the official website of the Reitz High School football program.
We see it differently. We see ReitzFootball.com as the kind of endeavor that the EVSC should encourage and promote. The signers of this petition believe that ReitzFootball.com should be allowed to be restored and that the EVSC should give it its blessing.
We urge you to help us by signing this petition in hopes that it could help us. This petition, once enough signatures are on it, will be sent to the EVSC school board as well as people of influence in our community. Thank you again for participating in this opportunity to save ReitzFoootball.com.
