Save Tantex Radio from Mr Ramam

Dear Telugu friends of DFW Metroplex,

Telugu Association of North Texas (TANTEX) is one of the premier Telugu Associations of United States with a good standing and has been functioning meticulously for the last 2 decades. In 1998, TANTEX has started a 2-hour radio program on weekends titled "Ganasudha" by leasing airtime from the local AM radio channels. The objectives envisioned by the founders and pioneers of this program are to preserve, propagate and perpetuate Telugu cultural heritage and Telugu language. This program has been aired continuously for the last one decade and has served its purpose for a long time in a decent manner. Now, TANTEX is also offered a 2-hour air time free of charge by a local FM Radio Channel and a new Radio program by TANTEX Weekend Vinodam is being aired on every Sunday from 9 AM-11 AM.

These two programs which served as public forums for the Telugu community of DFW have now become a personal fiefdom of one individual, Mr Ramam Devaraju who has been continuously abusing TANTEX Radio platform for his self-aggrandizement. As we all know if water is stagnated for a long time it becomes a breeding ground for lot of bacteria and virus. This is exactly the same thing that happened in case of Mr Ramams long-term association with TANTEX Radio. His long-term occupancy at the helm of affairs in conducting the TANTEX Radio programs has resulted in nepotism, inefficiency, lack of quality and substandard programs.

He has abused the TANTEX platform to such an extent that it became his family affair and only his friends and family members were able to get into the Radio. In fact, until recently the signature tune of TANTEX was mentioning that the program is brought to the listeners by him and his wife, even when the hosts were somebody else. What an act of owning a public forum of a large organization! Even to this day, the e-mail [email protected] , supposed to be used to solicit feedback from the listeners is accessible only by Mr. Ramam, but not all the Radio team. This simply shows the way Mr. Ramam is controlling and censoring even the feedback to suit his wishes.

He has been very reluctant to welcome fresh talent into the team with the fear of loosing his grip over the Radio. Many youngsters were either not allowed inside the team or if allowed were not given enough scope to prove their potential. Its Mr. Ramam and himself all the time trying to hog the limelight and suppressing other individuals talented than him. In fact, any weekend program that he hosts reeks of so much of self-praise that many listeners have become allergic to listening to him on Radio.

Mr. Ramam has been consistently showing utter disregard for the objectives of TANTEX and does not feel accountable to TANTEX and its members. His atrocious Telugu mixed with Butler English has now started to cast its influence even on the remaining team members, who are otherwise competent. In fact, if a test of competence is to be arranged, Mr Ramam would be the first to let go of the Radio team.

It is high time that Mr Ramam's continued abuse of a TANTEX platform with is put to a halt. Mr Ramam many a time has shown his reluctance to not abide by the objectives of TANTEX and behaved as if he 'owns' the TANTEX Radio. He is not receptive to any suggestions or constructive criticism either from TANTEX Executive Committee or the common listeners of Telugu Community. As we all know, authority without accountability spells doom for any organization. This authority is not vested in him either by the members of TANTEX or the EC committee. It's purely a 'self-styled' and 'self-claimed' authority just for hanging there for a long period.


We do respect his long-term service to the Ganasudha program and TANTEX Radio, but in this competitive world one cannot rest on his or her past laurels, that too filled with mediocre skills. If the objectives of an individual are put to the front, relegating the larger interests of the organization and its members, it is a matter of serious concern and needs to be dealt with in the right way.

We request you to please exercise your right as a responsible member of the Telugu community of DFW to save TANTEX Radio from the incompetence, inefficiency and continuous abuse by Mr Ramam Devaraju by signing this petition and forwarding it to other members of the Telugu community of DFW.
