This petition is in response to the statement that NASA will not be receiving funding for servicing the Hubble Space Telescope.
When you see the images that the HST has brought back to Earth, the general response is awe at what is in our universe. Whether created by God himself, or through elements explained by scientific theories, it is a marvel that no telescope on Earth could see. With the lack of atmosphere beyond our planet, it provides the HST with a crystal clear view of what is beyond our world and solar system.
The current budget would not provide adequate funds required to replace critical systems that keep the HST operating. We the undersigned find this decision to be outrageous and that President Bush and Congress set aside the funds necessary to keep this telescope in service for as long as possible.
