Save the Menu at RU: Preserve the Grease Trucks Sandwich Names

We, the patrons of the Grease Trucks on the College Avenue campus of Rutgers University, sign this petition in the name of Free Speech and tradition. We feel that forcing the owners of the Grease Trucks to change the names of their sandwiches is an inappropriate action on the part of this University.
Does this university truly stand to deny free speech, in favor of appeasing one group? If the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered are offended by the names of some sandwiches sold at the Grease Trucks, they can choose not to patronize this establishment. A more appropriate move on behalf of this University would be to increase tolerance via the classroom and publications.
Forcing the owners of the Grease Trucks to change their sandwich names will not increase tolerance for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community. The result of the change in names will only result in lowered sales for the Grease Trucks owners, and displeased patrons. It is unfair that the University will require the Grease Trucks owners to obtain new signs at their own cost. By changing the names of the Grease Trucks sandwiches, you are changing tradition, something we the patrons of the Grease Trucks hold very dear.
This institution should not strive to be known as one that censors every word, book, or sandwich name that a particular group finds offensive. Striking at the names of our beloved sandwiches, is a strike at our Freedom of Speech. We request you reconsider your decision in the interest of maintaining the free speech and flow of ideas necessary for a successful institution of higher learning.
