Everyone knows that CD sales have been hurt in recent years from illegal downloading and copied CDs, mainly due to the progression of technology and the Internet. Because of this, you would have thought that large online companies would do everything that they can to stop the selling of copied CDs and illegal downloads.
This petition has been directed to e-bay in particular. E-bay has allowed their seller, for some time now, to sell illegal copied CDs for a fraction of the original price of the CD. Sellers have attempted to avoid international laws, by stating that the CD should be used as a back-up copy, only if you possess a copy of the original CD. My question is this; Why will people buy a backup copy of their CD off a site like E-bay when they can make it themselves for less, and also why would they need a backup copy in the first play? People will not buy these copied CDs as backups; they will buy them in place of the original, official release.
I have made this petition in order to draw attention towards this problem, and also attempt to change e-bays selling guidelines on this issue. Also the money from fake and copied CD's can go to criminal and terrorist groups. If that isn't a good reason so sign I don't know what is.
