We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned that the play structures in our Fresno/Clovis neighborhood parks become too hot making them dangerous for our children to play on.
As parents and concerned community members we urge local government to act swiftly to cover our play structures with canopies or shade structures so that our children may play outside longer without fear of harmful UV rays and dangerously hot playground equipment. Cities such as Scottsdale, AZ and Las Vegas, NV have covered many of their neighborhood play structures with festive canvas canopies and coverings with a minimal allocation of public funds to do so.
We appeal to our local governments and local parks and recreation departments to expeditiously erect shade structures for the health and safety of our children and to benefit the entire community.
