We, the undersigned, are volunteer or career members of fire/rescue organizations in Stafford County, Virginia. While we recognize positive efforts made by the County Fire Chief, we feel his actions have delineated relationships between individual stations, furthered negatism between volunteer and career personnel and account primarily for a continuing decrease in morale and volunteer participation.
We petition for swift action from the Board of Supervisors and the County Administrator in making immediate changes in the Fire Chief's scope of power over volunteers, including but not limited to:
1. Amending ordinance 005-47, section 12 and giving a volunteer organization's elected chiefs the complete authority over their volunteer members, specifically all rights, discipline, and priviledges.
2. An immediate job evaluation of the County Fire Chief by the Fire Rescue Associaion.
**this petition shall supplement a physical petition that will be available to sign in person. All signatures, physical or electronic, shall be compiled. This petition and those signing it are given the right and protection to do so by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.
