Star Wars Galaxies for the Mac

This is a petition to LucasArts Entertainment Company and Sony Online Entertainment to consider the port of their upcoming title "Star Wars Galaxies" for the Macintosh platform. This petition was created after seeing various informal show of hands on this topic from various sources, including the forums on Sony Station.

We, the undersigned urge you, the directors of this immensely creative and groundbreaking venture to consider investing in a share of the market that has proved loyal to those who have provided content for it in the past. Star Wars Galaxies [SWG] is a game of immense scope that not only raises the standard of Massively Multiplayer Online Games [MMOGs], but could very well change the face of all computer games for years to come.

To exclude Macintosh users from participating in this environment would not only be a huge disappointment to those of us who, like Mr. Lucas himself, have chosen a media creation platform that we find superior to most others but would also cut a guaranteed profit to the creators and publishers of SWG. With only a couple of MMOGs currently available to Macintosh users, a project such as yours would most certainly sweep the competition aside and the heavily addictive nature of your game would provide you with a loyal customer base for as long as you kept the servers running. The technology available to make such ports easier is rapidly advancing with APIs such as MacDX, and companies such as Wolfpack Studios, NCsoft and BioWare have found it is not only easy to develop for both platforms, but in some cases the Mac development has proved to be easier.

To attest to your profit from porting SWG to the Mac platform, each signature in this petition not only represents an individual who would be thrilled to participate in the world you are creating, but also a promise to purchase at least one copy of a Mac version of SWG.

We urge you to reconsider your choice of a PC-only version of SWG, in favor of a Mac/PC dual platform version. More game developers and publishing companies are realizing a profit from Macintosh ports with every year that passes, and in this user's honest opinion you should not take such an unwarranted profit and reputation loss, especially in today's economy.
