Stop Ramapo's Tution Hike

Trustees, along with President Peter Mercer, proposed a tuition and fees increase of 10\%. The proposed tuition and fee totals an additional $2,135 on to the current tuition price students are paying to attend Ramapo College. Additionally, the current tuition price is a result of significant tuition increases the past three-four years. If this proposed tuition and fee is approved, students will be paying an average of $23,022 to attend Ramapo College during the upcoming 2009 2010 academic school year.
While we acknowledge the tremendous strains placed on the State of New Jerseys budget due to complex economic factors during this tough economic time, we, the undersigned, believe that the proposed 10\% increases of tuition and fees to attend Ramapo College of New Jersey for the upcoming 2009 2010 academic school year will make it difficult for myself and/or my family to continue to fund my pursuit of a college education.
We, the undersigned, strongly urge the Ramapo College Board of Trustees, along with the college administration, to stray away from relying heavily on increased tuition and fees in order to make up for the budget shortfall. While we, the undersigned, understand that tuition and fees will increase each year, the proposed 10\% hike will make it even less desirable to attend a public college in New Jersey.
