Stop Stockton Borough Council enforcing the removal of personal items from childrens' graves at Durham Road Cemetery

We, the undersigned, ask that Stockton Borough Council rethink their demand for parents to remove items from the graves of their children at Durham Road Cemetery so that the graves can all be grassed over. Many parents feel that tending to the grave is the last thing that they can do for their child, and by removing the personal items and grassing over the graves they are taking away the small comfort that parents get from creating and tending the 'gardens' for the children. The gardens are often themed to celebrate the child's birthday, Christmas, etc. The thought of people walking over the graves to lay and cut the grass brings great distress to many parents. The gardens are not offensive, untidy or unpleasant, so please, Stockton Borough Council, have a heart and let them stay.
