On the 26th of July 2010, Wagga Wagga City Council is set to vote on a proposed strip club to be located on the premises of an existing brothel on Riedell street.
Concerns have already been raised by many members of the community about the negative effects on the community that are likely to be caused by the opening of a strip club. According to Detective Inspector Rod Smith, Crime Manager of Wagga Police these include increased alcohol related assaults, increased stretch on police resources, increased risk of sexual assault and increased organised criminal activity.
There have been no positive submissions for the proposal.
