Stop The Ban On School Dances

We believe it is unfair that because of the actions of a few select students, that the dances should be removed from the entire student body. We hereby present the petitionto stop the ban on school dances.
Dances provide a good source of fundraising, and school pride. They become a source of entertainment provided by the school in a familiar environment, without the studying. They have become a vital part of student culture that everyone looks forward to throughout the year. There has been some controversy surrounding the matter, and a ban on dances has been pending for quite a while. However, we believe the school would overall benefit from holding at least one dance a year.
This dance could be held in the first semester, and if there is student misbehavior, the subsequent dance will not be held. However, if the student body conducts itself responsibly, a second dance should be held later in the year, much like the school year of 2005/2006. However, due the the misbehavior at the last dance of the year, this should eliminate the first dance of the year from the following school year. The next dance would be held at the end of that year, with tighter guidelines and supervision.
We will be willing to present our idea to Sutherland's Administration only after receiving over 1000 signatures from the students. We can only do that if we receive as much support as possible from everyone, and that they, too, should comply to our plan.
