I am creating this petition to bring attention to the lenient laws against animal cruelty in PA. Recently here in Philadelphia, PA there was a dog-beating incident. The entire assault was caught on videotape. Here is what happened: This person beat a dog outside of a laundromat. The dog ran into the laundromat, limping, to get away from him. The abuser followed him into the laundromat and continued beating him until he could not do anything but lay there lifeless. As if that wasnt bad enough, as the dog lay there lifeless, he grabbed the dog by the tail and dragged him out of the laundromat. Words cannot describe how horrifying this ordeal was. The local news did not show the whole tape because it was so gruesome. This person is going to be charged with only a misdemeanor!! This person savagely beat this defenseless animal and to see him get away with a slap on the wrist makes me so angry! Many people consider their pets to be their children. Now if someone were to beat a child, the punishments would be a lot more severe! I feel that the abuse of animals should be seen in the same light as beating a human being. The ironic thing is, if an animal harms a human, nobody thinks twice to euthanize it. When the shoe is on the other foot, who is there to protect the animals? Please sign this petition and let the lawmakers know that we need to adopt a ZERO tolerance policy concerning animal abuse cases.
Thank you!
