We the undersigned, being members of the University of Toronto as students, staff, alumni, and teaching staff hereby petition the University and the Governing Council to fund and build a student centre on the St. George Campus. We believe that the existing space on campus is inadequate to address the needs of all students and that new and accessible space is required to build the campus community that U of T students deserve.
We demand that such additional student activity space be built as soon as possible. We emphatically believe that there needs to be a central student space node that will serve as the flagship for student life, the primary meeting place on campus for all students and student groups, and a place that will foster a strong University of Toronto identity. The only way to achieve this is through an adequate Student Centre that is controlled by students.
