SUNY-Albany Discontinues Classical Languages

We would like to protest the decision of the president and his advisory board to eliminate the classics from UAlbany's curriculum. Latin and Greek are the building-blocks of our culture and Latin an invaluable tool for learning modern Romance languages. The Classics at UAlbany have also included many courses taught in English with no prerequisite, meeting requirements in Humanities, Women's Studies, and Intensive Writing and introducing students to the origins of drama, democracy, Christianity and rabbinic Judaism, multicultural urban living and many other of the most relevant topics in today's world.
