We, the undersigned, would like to express our support for the seal hunt in Atlantic Canada. Countless celebrities, more recently Paul McCartney, have flown onto ice floes and posed for photo opportunities with baby seals, which by law are not hunted anymore.
This excercise, intented only to tarnish the seal hunt with false information, is offensive to Canadians. Organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States and Respect for Animals use these visits to "raise awareness", or in terms more truthful, to raise money for their organizations based upon false pretenses.
The Canadian government has correctly stated support for the annual seal hunt as an economic engine for many families, and as a legitimate hunting practice. With these signatures, we wish to encourage the Government of Canada to continue supporting the hunt, with even more vigour in the face of celebrity ignorance.
