Support The Marriage Rights Of Homosexuals

Although this country has not always been the picture of tolerance and non-descrimination, we have been catching up. Already in the last century both women and blacks, among others, have overcome arbitrary and ignorant restrictions on their freedom; but much remains to be done. Despite being prevelant throughout the human race and throughout history, gays and lesbians are only now beginning to be incorporated as true citizens within the body politic. The next big fight is over whether or not we will allow people who love each other and want to commit to marry, or whether a group of narrow-minded people will hijack the meaning of the word for their own puritanical ends.

We believe that Ohioans of good conscious cannot condone further discrimination against gays and lesbians, and that all consenting adults who are ready, willing, and capable of making a commitment should be allowed. We believe that in a era where 50\% of marriages end in divorce, the only way to strengthen the institution is to welcome those who want to commit so badly, they've weathered the political storms. Finally, we believe the needs of politicians have for too long held hostage the justice that the gays and lesbians of our state deserve.
