The Fight to Increase Utilization of Alternative Energy Resources

It has come to our attention that over the past 25 years, there has been a steady inclination in carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere contributing climatic changes and variations. Such climatic alterations have led to global problems including melting of polar ice caps, dying vegetation, and destruction of coral reefs, air pollution, and the endangerment of various populations. In order to better understand the environmental problems induced by carbon dioxide emissions, Pierre Friedlingstein and Susan Solomon have developed a simple approach to estimate the effect of human contributions of CO2 in future years based on past and present data (Friedlingstein et al p.1).
Emission data collected from Marland et al (p.2) from 1900 up to 2000, a simple test case and a pulse-case response performed by Friedlinstein and Solomon has shown that approximately two-thirds of todays warming has been caused by CO2 gas releases (p.1). Friedlingstein and Solomons study hypothesizes that even if CO2 emissions were completely reduced to zero, global temperatures will still continue to increase due to past-time emission contributions, because of the length of time it takes to remove CO2 from the atmosphere (p.4). This means that with each passing generation utilizing resources such as fossils fuels that emit these gases, contributions to substantial environmental warming will continue to increase, affecting the world we live in.
It is then in our international communitys best interest to take the measures necessary to prevent further climatic increases resulting from CO2 contributors. We propose further extensive research and development in alternative energy resources such as that of solar panels seen on many homes today. Please join us in our campaign towards making our international community a safer place to live.
