As users of Greengate Lane, some of which use the Lane twice daily when accessing Highcliffe Primary School, we are increasingly concerned about the safety of the Lane, particularly for pedestrian users. We are particularly worried in respect of users of the Zebra Crossing. Many of us have observed vehicles totally disregarding the crossing or failure to stop because of the high speed of the vehicle. A few of us have observed "near misses" involving children and vehicles. We would like to open discussions leading towards a 20mph speed limit on the Lane or physical traffic calming meaures that postively improve visibility and safety. Ideally, we would like to see a reduction of the volume of transport using Greengate Lane for non-access purposes.
